Engagement guidance

Compare Engagement Models

Choose an engagement model by matching scope certainty, delivery ownership, priority change and commercial control to the work. Dedicated teams support continuing roadmaps; staff augmentation adds people to client-led delivery; project based development assigns a bounded outcome to Renvric. Fixed price and time and materials describe different commercial treatments and can sit within a project structure.

How the choices relate

Dedicated team, staff augmentation and project based development describe how responsibility and team structure are organised. Fixed price and time and materials describe how work is paid for and how commercial change is handled. A project based engagement can therefore be fixed price or time and materials, while a dedicated team is commonly funded by agreed capacity.

Decision guide

Start with ownership

If the client will direct daily work and retain delivery accountability, consider staff augmentation. If Renvric should own a bounded outcome, consider project based development.

Test scope certainty

Stable, testable deliverables may support fixed price. Material unknowns or an evolving roadmap usually favour time and materials or staged discovery.

Consider continuity

A continuing roadmap and need for retained knowledge may justify a dedicated team.

Define control

Agree backlog authority, acceptance, spend visibility, forecast cadence and the mechanism for material changes.

Plan transition

Specify how the engagement can scale, change model, complete or hand over without losing knowledge.

04

Responsibility by model

Staff augmentation places the strongest day-to-day responsibility with the client. A dedicated team often shares product and delivery governance, with the exact split documented. Project based development places delivery leadership with Renvric for the contracted outcome. In every case the client retains decisions and obligations that cannot be delegated, including authorised access and business acceptance unless the contract states otherwise.

05

Commercial and change controls

Fixed price requires a stable baseline, assumptions and acceptance. Time and materials requires transparent rates or capacity, regular forecasting and spend controls. Both require change decisions: fixed price changes the contractual baseline, while time and materials changes backlog, capacity, budget or forecast within agreed authority.

06

Use staged commitments when evidence is limited

A buyer does not need to select one model for the entire lifecycle. A fixed discovery can reduce uncertainty, a time and materials stage can prove difficult integrations, and a later project can commit to a better-defined release. Each transition should have a decision owner, evidence threshold, commercial closeout and updated responsibility map.

Questions for procurement and delivery leaders

What specific result or capacity is being purchased?

Who controls priorities and daily work?

Which dependencies and client inputs affect the commitment?

How will acceptance, quality and security be verified?

What evidence supports an estimate or forecast?

How can the team scale, transition or exit?

Which terms vary by country, currency or contracting entity?

Common questions

Yes. Define a transition decision, commercial closeout, responsibilities, knowledge transfer and the new governance rather than changing only the label.

It depends on uncertainty and ownership. Discovery plus a small project, time and materials team or fixed release can each work when their assumptions fit.

Yes, through a documented change process that updates price, time, scope or another part of the baseline.

Cost depends on roles, duration, management, location, risk and terms. Compare total responsibility and operating effort, not rates alone.

Compare assumptions, included responsibilities, team, controls, evidence, acceptance, transition and total cost in addition to the headline price.

Discuss your delivery context

01

Share the outcome, scope certainty, current team, decision structure, timing, budget context and procurement requirements. Renvric can recommend a model and identify the assumptions that need validation before commitment.
