How we work

Progress Reporting

Progress reporting should let a sponsor make decisions in minutes. Renvric reports on delivered outcomes, scope position, risks, budget and decisions needed, using working software and consistent measures instead of colour-coded optimism, at an agreed cadence in a form your stakeholders will read.

01

Reports that support decisions

A status report earns its place only if someone acts differently after reading it. Renvric builds reporting around the decisions a sponsor, product owner or finance lead must make: whether to continue, add scope, release, or intervene. Everything else is detail available on request.

What a regular update contains

01

Outcome position

Work completed since the last report, shown by what users can now do, and what is planned next.

02

Scope and forecast

Progress against the agreed scope, with a forecast expressed as a range and the assumptions behind it.

03

Budget position

Spend to date against plan under the commercial model, with any variance explained.

04

Risks and issues

The top items from the register with owners, trends and any change in rating.

05

Decisions needed

Specific questions for named people, with deadlines and consequences of delay.

03

Measures we prefer

  • Working software demonstrated at review, since it is harder to misreport than a percentage complete.
  • Burn-up charts that show completed work against total scope, making scope growth visible.
  • Cycle time and throughput, which describe delivery flow without ranking individuals.
  • Defect trends and test results, showing whether quality is holding as speed increases.
  • Dependency and blocker age, to show where waiting time is accumulating.
Have a requirement in mind?

Share the outcome you need and Renvric will recommend the smallest useful next step.

04

Rules for honest status

Status colours have written definitions. Amber means a stated risk to scope, budget or date with a plan; red means the agreed outcome is at risk without a decision from the sponsor. Teams are asked to report amber early, because late red is a failure of reporting more than of delivery. Consider a project quietly slipping for three weeks and then declared late: the rules are designed to prevent exactly that.

Reports distinguish facts, forecasts and opinions, and note where information is incomplete.

05

Cadence and audiences

  • A short written update to the sponsor at a regular interval, with a longer review at major milestones.
  • A live demonstration at the end of each iteration for the product owner and users.
  • Access to the tracker so stakeholders can see detail without asking.
  • Financial summaries shared with procurement on the schedule in the contract.
06

Responsibilities

The Renvric delivery lead prepares and stands behind each report. The client product owner confirms accepted work and priorities, and the sponsor responds to decisions requested. If reports are not being read, tell us; format and length can be changed.

Common questions

Sponsors, product owners, programme offices and finance teams who need reliable visibility of delivery. It is equally useful to team members, who benefit from shared definitions of progress and clear signals about what is blocked.

Your preferred audience list, existing reporting templates or portfolio tools, the commercial model, and the decisions you expect to make from the reports. We also need to know who should be copied and who should only see summaries.

Yes, wherever practical. We can give stakeholders read access to the tracker, repository activity and pipeline results, so reports can be verified. Access is set up per person and subject to any confidentiality conditions in the contract.

Promptly and with options. The delivery lead raises the matter as soon as it is understood, explains the effect on scope, cost and timeline, and proposes responses. It is then discussed in the next review or sooner if urgent, and logged.

Write to info@renvric.com. Reporting format questions are handled by a delivery lead, and commercial or invoicing questions go to the engagement lead. If your organisation already has a reporting template or portfolio dashboard, send an example so we can show how our measures would fit into it.

01

At onboarding we agree audiences, cadence, tools and the definitions used. Bring any reporting formats your organisation already requires, such as portfolio dashboards, and we will map our measures to them.
