Post Launch Care

A launch is the start of the system's working life, not the end of the project. Renvric's post-launch care covers the weeks after go-live: close monitoring, fast fixes for defects found in real use, handover of runbooks, and a clear decision on ongoing support, so the client is not left alone at the moment the system meets real users.

01

Why the weeks after launch matter

Real users find things testing did not. Data volumes differ from test data, integrations behave differently under load, and people use features in ways nobody predicted. The period just after go-live is when small issues are cheapest to fix and when confidence in the whole project is decided.

Renvric plans for this period from the start, rather than treating it as an unplanned extra.

02

The stabilisation window

  • The delivery team stays close to the system for an agreed period after release, with the length set in the contract.
  • Monitoring and alerting are checked against real traffic and tuned to remove noise.
  • Defects found in live use are triaged by severity and fixed against agreed priorities.
  • Performance, error rates and key business flows are reviewed daily at first, then less often.
  • Users' questions are collected to reveal gaps in training or documentation.
  • A short review at the end of the window records what was found and what changed.

What is handed over

01

Runbooks

Step-by-step instructions for routine operations, restarts, deployments and common failures.

02

Architecture and decision records

A written account of how the system is built and why key choices were made.

03

Monitoring and alert definitions

What is watched, what the thresholds mean and who is notified.

04

Access and credentials inventory

Who has access to what, with a plan for rotating secrets at handover.

05

Backlog of known issues

Items deliberately deferred, with context, so nothing is lost.

04

Choosing what happens next

After stabilisation the client decides who looks after the system. Options include an internal team, a managed support arrangement with Renvric, a time-and-materials retainer for enhancements, or a mix. Each has trade-offs in cost, speed of response and knowledge retention, and Renvric will set them out plainly instead of assuming ongoing work.

05

A realistic scenario

Consider a business that launches an online ordering platform before a busy season. In the first days, a payment provider times out under peak load. During the stabilisation window the team sees it in monitoring, adds retry handling and reports the cause to the client the same day. Without a planned window, the same issue might sit in a queue while orders fail.

06

Responsibilities after go-live

Related areas to explore: Post launch support and Client responsibilities.

Useful next steps: case studies, client satisfaction and how Renvric works.

  • Client: report issues through the agreed channel, provide timely feedback and decide support arrangements.
  • Renvric: monitor, triage, fix within scope and document what changed.
  • Shared: review the first weeks, agree what is deferred and confirm when stabilisation ends.

Common questions

Clients about to release a system to real users, particularly those without an internal operations team. It also matters to risk reviewers who want to know who is responsible when something fails after go-live.

A named contact for issue reports, access to production monitoring where appropriate, agreement on severity definitions and a decision-maker for priorities. Early agreement on these saves time when an incident occurs.

It depends on the system's size and risk, and is agreed in the contract. A small release may need a short window, while a platform with many integrations usually needs longer. The window ends with a review that both sides sign off.

Not automatically. Stabilisation covers defects in the delivered scope for an agreed period. Continuing support, with response targets and coverage hours, is a separate arrangement that Renvric will propose if the client wants it.

The engagement lead during the stabilisation window, then the support contact named in the support agreement, if one is agreed. For any concern about handover or responsibilities, info@renvric.com will route you to the right person, who can explain what is covered and what is not.

Next step

Plan it into the proposal

01

Ask for post-launch care to be written into the scope, with the window, the contacts and the support options stated. Service levels for ongoing support are agreed per contract.
