Security By Design
Security added at the end is expensive and incomplete. Renvric aims to build it in from the first design conversation: understanding what must be protected, modelling how it could be attacked, choosing controls early, testing them continuously and keeping the evidence a client's own reviewers will ask for.

Why start at design
Many serious weaknesses are architectural: missing authorisation checks, data stored longer than needed, a service trusted without verification. Such flaws cost far more to correct after launch than to avoid in a diagram. Renvric therefore asks security questions while the structure of a system is still easy to change.
Activities across the lifecycle
Requirements
Identify sensitive data, regulatory duties, user roles and abuse cases alongside functional needs.
Design
Threat modelling of data flows and trust boundaries, using a method such as STRIDE, and selection of controls for each risk.
Build
Secure coding practices, peer review with security in mind, and automated static analysis on every change.
Verify
Dependency scanning, secret detection, dynamic testing and, where justified, independent penetration testing.
Operate
Logging, monitoring, patching, access reviews and a rehearsed incident route.
Controls that are usually considered
- Authentication and session handling appropriate to the sensitivity, including multi-factor options where warranted.
- Authorisation checked on the server for every action, following least privilege.
- Encryption of data in transit and, where needed, at rest, with keys managed outside the codebase.
- Input validation and output encoding to reduce injection and cross-site scripting risks.
- Dependency management that tracks known vulnerabilities and updates libraries on a regular cycle.
- Secrets stored in a managed vault, never in repositories, and rotated when people leave.
- Audit logging that records who did what without storing sensitive content unnecessarily.
Share the outcome you need and Renvric will recommend the smallest useful next step.
A short illustration
Consider a customer portal where users download invoices by number. A threat model asks what happens if a user changes the number in the address. The design response is an ownership check on the server, a test that fails if it is removed and a log entry for denied requests. The question takes minutes at design stage; discovered after launch, it may become an incident.
Roles
- The client states data classification, regulatory duties, risk appetite and any policies the supplier must follow.
- The Renvric technical lead owns the security design and its trade-offs, with specialists brought in when needed.
- Engineers apply secure coding practice and respond to scan findings.
- The client's security team may review designs, tests and findings; Renvric supports such reviews.
What Renvric can show on request
Renvric aims to provide threat models, a description of its secure development practice, scan and test reports for your project, access lists and a summary of how vulnerabilities are triaged. We do not claim certifications that are not documented for the engagement; ask, and we will say plainly what exists.

Common questions
Who is security by design for?
Organisations handling personal, financial or operationally sensitive data, and any team whose customers or regulators will ask how the system is protected. It is also for technical leaders who want fewer surprises from late security reviews.
What information do you need?
Data types and sensitivity, applicable regulations or contractual security requirements, your security policies, hosting constraints and any known threats or past incidents. If a formal framework applies to you, tell us so we can map controls to it.
Do you carry out penetration testing?
Where risk justifies it, we can arrange independent penetration testing and work with your preferred provider. Many clients require testing by a party separate from the builders. Findings are triaged by severity, fixed through the normal process and retested.
Can you meet our compliance requirements?
We work to the requirements you specify and design controls to support them, but compliance is a property of your organisation and operations as well as the software. We do not claim certifications unless documented, and will tell you where responsibilities sit.
Who can answer a related question?
Write to info@renvric.com. Security architecture questions are passed to a technical lead, and requests for documentation or questionnaires are handled by the engagement lead. If a questionnaire or framework such as a customer security review applies, send it ahead so the right specialist can look at the questions first.

Bring your security policies, data classification, compliance obligations and any past audit findings. A short workshop on the first design usually establishes the main controls.
