QA Staffing

QA staffing places skilled testers inside your team, from manual QA analysts to SDET and performance specialists. Renvric aims to match each role to your stack and ways of working, assess candidates on practical testing ability, and keep day-to-day direction with you, with overlap hours across San Diego and Punjab.

The roles QA staffing covers

01

QA analyst

Designs and runs manual test cases, performs exploratory testing against charters, and writes clear defect reports.

02

QA engineer

Combines functional testing with scripting, API checks and pipeline awareness; a flexible hire for small product teams.

03

SDET / automation engineer

Builds and maintains automation frameworks, treats test code as production code and works closely with developers on testability.

04

Performance test engineer

Models workloads, builds load scripts with tools such as k6 or JMeter, and interprets results against capacity and response goals.

05

Security tester

Tests authentication, authorisation and input handling, using tools in the vein of OWASP ZAP alongside manual probing.

06

QA lead or test manager

Owns the plan, reporting and triage, coaches the team and represents quality in release decisions.

02

When adding people is the right answer

  • A release deadline needs more hands for a defined period, and hiring permanently would take too long.
  • You have developers writing code but nobody owns automation or the pipeline gates.
  • A specialist skill, such as performance or mobile device testing, is needed occasionally rather than all year.
  • An existing tester is leaving and knowledge must be captured before they go.
  • You want to extend coverage across time zones, so overnight builds meet a morning triage.

03

When it is not

Adding testers does not fix an unclear definition of done, unstable environments or missing test data. If the underlying strategy is weak, extra people will find defects faster than the team can resolve them. In that situation, a short QA consulting and test strategy engagement may be wiser before, or alongside, staffing.

04

How Renvric aims to assess candidates

Renvric does not publish placement statistics and makes no claims about the size of its bench. What it can describe is the process it aims to follow before putting a person forward.

  • A role profile agreed with you first: stack, test levels, tools, seniority, and what success looks like in the first month.
  • A structured conversation about past testing decisions, including how the candidate chose what not to test.
  • A practical exercise matched to the role, such as writing test cases from an ambiguous requirement, finding defects in a small application, or reviewing a flaky automation script.
  • For automation roles, a code exercise and a discussion of framework design, waits, data handling and reporting.
  • A check on written communication, since defect reports and status notes are daily work.
  • A chance for you to interview the shortlist and decide.

What you control and what Renvric owns

01

You direct

Priorities, tasks, standards, tools and access to systems. The person works as part of your team.

02

Renvric handles

Sourcing, assessment, employment and administration, replacement if a placement is not working, and a regular check-in on the engagement.

03

Shared

Onboarding plan, definition of done, performance feedback and agreement on when to scale up or down.

06

Working across San Diego and Punjab hours

Renvric has offices in San Diego and Punjab, so engineers can cover a long window of the working day. Typical patterns are a few hours of live overlap for stand-ups, triage and pairing, with the remainder used for focused execution and overnight test runs. Agree the overlap in writing, along with the channels, the on-call expectation and how handovers are recorded.

07

Starting small and scaling

Many clients begin with a single QA engineer or SDET, review the fit after a few weeks, and then add people or specialists. This sits within staff augmentation, while a larger, longer-lived group is usually set up as a dedicated team. If you have a defined testing goal, such as a regression suite or a release cycle, a project-based scope can be the clearer route, and the engagement model comparison helps you choose.

Common questions

Roles include QA analyst, QA engineer, SDET or automation engineer, performance test engineer, security tester, and QA lead or test manager. Mobile and accessibility specialisms can also be discussed. Availability depends on the profile you need, so Renvric confirms feasibility against a written role description rather than promising it up front.

You share a role profile, Renvric proposes candidates who have passed its assessment process, and you interview them. Once you select someone, they join your team and take direction from you. Renvric manages employment and administration and holds periodic reviews with you about fit, scope and whether the engagement should change.

Renvric aims to combine a structured interview with a practical exercise suited to the role, such as writing test cases from an unclear requirement or reviewing a flaky automation script. For SDETs there is also a code exercise. You then meet the shortlist and make the final decision yourself.

Yes. Starting with one engineer is common, and it lets you judge fit, onboarding speed and communication before committing further. Later you can add roles, such as a performance specialist, or move to a dedicated team. Contract terms for adding and releasing people are agreed in writing at the start.

With teams in San Diego and Punjab, there is usually a defined overlap window for stand-ups, triage and pairing, and the rest of the day is for independent work. The overlap, tools, reporting rhythm and handover notes are agreed up front, and you can adjust them as the work changes.

Next step

What to prepare for a first conversation

01

Gather the technology stack, the test tools already in use, the size and shape of the team, access constraints, the target start date and the first problem you want solved. A sample defect report and a description of how releases reach production help us judge which profile suits. Renvric will then outline the roles, the assessment plan and the review points.
